Black Pumas, Farmer’s Wife, and Die Spitz Win Austin Music Awards

Black Pumas, Farmer’s Wife, and Die Spitz were the big winners at this year’s Austin Music Awards. The ceremony took place at the Moody Theater on Sunday night, and the award winners were announced during a live broadcast on KUTX.

Black Pumas, the psychedelic soul band from Austin, took home the Band of the Year award, while Farmer’s Wife won Best New Band. Die Spitz, a punk rock band also from Austin, was awarded Best Rock Band.

The Austin Music Awards, which have been taking place for over 30 years, celebrate the best and brightest musicians in the Austin music scene. This year’s winners were chosen by a panel of industry experts, as well as fans who voted online.

Other winners at the Austin Music Awards included Jackie Venson for Best Guitarist, Jon Dee Graham for Best Male Singer-Songwriter, and Gina Chavez for Best Female Singer-Songwriter.

The Austin Music Awards are a highlight of the South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival, which attracts thousands of music fans to Austin each year. The festival features live performances from hundreds of artists from around the world, as well as panel discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities for music industry professionals.
