Salvation Army Renovates Downtown Homeless Shelter

Salvation Army plans to renovate and expand its downtown homeless shelter on 6th Avenue. The organization announced that it will invest $100 million in this project aimed at providing better services to San Diego’s homeless population.

The renovation will include adding more beds and services, such as medical and mental health care, job training, and housing assistance. The shelter will also have new amenities, including a kitchen and dining area, a recreational space, and a computer lab.

“We are committed to helping those in need and providing a safe and welcoming environment for the homeless community,” said Salvation Army spokesperson John Smith.

The organization hopes that the renovated shelter will be a place where homeless individuals can receive the support they need to transition to stable housing and improve their overall well-being.

The Salvation Army’s downtown homeless shelter has been an essential resource for many individuals experiencing homelessness in San Diego, and the renovation project is expected to further enhance its impact in the community.
