Chicago man sentenced in UPS truck robbery, carjackings
Mężczyzna z Chicago został skazany na karę więzienia za napad na samochód dostawczy UPS i porwania
Chicago – A man from Chicago has been sentenced to 23 years in prison for a series of crimes, including a UPS truck robbery and multiple carjackings.
36-year-old Derek Davis was convicted of hijacking a UPS truck in August 2020 with the help of two accomplices. During the robbery, Davis and his associates held the driver at gunpoint and stole packages from the truck.
In addition to the UPS truck robbery, Davis was also involved in multiple carjackings in the Chicago area. Prosecutors say that Davis and his accomplices targeted victims at gunpoint, stealing their vehicles and personal belongings.
Davis was arrested in September 2020 and has been in custody ever since. He pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including armed robbery and carjacking.
During the sentencing hearing, the judge emphasized the seriousness of Davis’ crimes and the impact they had on the victims. In addition to his prison sentence, Davis will also be required to pay restitution to the victims.
The Chicago Police Department and federal authorities have been working together to combat the rise in carjackings in the city. This case serves as a reminder that those who commit these crimes will be held accountable and face severe consequences.
