Tropical Storm Delilah brought heavy rains and strong winds to Houston on Tuesday, leaving a trail of damage in its wake. One of the most affected areas were the city’s trees, as many were uprooted or damaged during the storm.
According to the Houston Public Works Department, over 500 trees were toppled or damaged throughout the city. The department has been working tirelessly to clear debris and remove fallen trees from roads and sidewalks.
One of the areas hit hardest by the storm was Memorial Park, where several large trees were uprooted, causing damage to nearby homes and vehicles. The park’s iconic oak trees were also heavily affected, with some being over a century old.
City officials are urging residents to be cautious when navigating the streets, as there may still be fallen branches and debris in many areas. They are also asking residents to report any damaged trees or branches that may pose a danger to public safety.
Despite the damage caused by the storm, Houstonians have come together to help clean up and support one another during this difficult time. The city is now focused on recovery efforts and ensuring that Houston’s trees are replanted and restored for future generations to enjoy.
