Popular actress Phylicia Rashad has been appointed as the new dean of Howard University’s College of Fine Arts, the university announced on Wednesday.

Rashad, best known for her role as Clair Huxtable on “The Cosby Show,” will begin her new role on July 1. She is an alumna of Howard University and has an extensive background in acting, directing, and education.

In a statement, Rashad expressed her excitement at returning to her alma mater and said she is looking forward to nurturing the next generation of artists and performers.
